About us

The Centre is an interdisciplinary initiative that seeks to engage critically with a range of security-related issues.

We have three primary aims:

  1. To provide an intellectual forum in which existing research into a variety of aspects of the notions of 'security' and 'development' (and the relationships between the two) within the contributing Departments can be productively brought together.
  2. To produce critical, politically engaged and policy relevant work, focused in particular on the discursive and political-economic aspects of a wide range of security-related issues.
  3. To bring to Queen Mary international scholars who will contribute to the work of the Centre and the life of the College.

From these beginnings we hope to be able to enable important, collaborative research to be undertaken, for academic networks to be established, and, ultimately, for post-graduate teaching to take place related to this work.

This scheme provides a contribution to expenses while based within the School of Geography and offers full access to QMUL facilities. There are three types of opportunity available.
